About Me

I was raised in Illinois after my parents immigrated from Taiwan. My father, who was an OB/GYN physician, always encouraged me to go into medicine. To the contrary, I chose to get my bachelor's degree in electrical and biomedical engineering at the University of Illinois. I then realized that working with people, rather than circuits, was much better suited for me. I have always enjoyed working with my hands which drew me to a surgical specialty. After another 10 years of medical school and training, it turns out my father was right after all.

I specialize in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, working with the surgical and medical treatment of disorders of the head and neck, ear, nose, and throat. I am also fellowship trained in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, sub-specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and neck.

I joined Kaiser Santa Rosa in 2002, then transferred to Kaiser Oakland and Richmond Medical Centers in 2006, and have found it to be a wonderful place to work and to receive medical care. I am proud to be a member of such an outstanding medical group that is dedicated to excellence in healthcare.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
