Hello and Welcome!

I thank you for visiting my home page. I hope to give you an insight to who I am, my background and my philosophy of care to all my patients.

My Credentials

After graduating from high school in Hawaii, I attended the University of Southern California and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences. I continued on to assume a position assisting postdocs with their research on anti-carcinogens at the University of California Berkeley’s Biochemistry Department.

My Practice Philosophy

I was born and raised in Honolulu, HI, on the island of O’ahu nicknamed “The Gathering Place”. I think it is a unique place to grow up because not only is it a beautiful place, it is also a melting pot with a diversity of cultures and ethnicities which has provided me the opportunity to embrace people from all walks of life. This has translated into my philosophy of practice by providing an understanding and compassion to provide the best care to all my patients from all different backgrounds.

Why do I want to be an Optometrist?

I decided after three years of doing lab work that I wanted to use my background in science to help and interact more with people directly. I started wearing glasses since I was seven years old, so I was introduced to optometry at a very young age and found it intriguing. That led me to my decision of obtaining a Doctorate at the University of California Berkeley School of Optometry and becoming an optometrist. It has been a very rewarding experience as an optometrist helping people improve and sometimes save their vision.

Why do I Like Practicing Optometry at Kaiser Permanente?

I am honored and privileged to be a part of a wonderful team of eye care professionals at Kaiser Permanente and look forward to providing the best care to all my patients with compassion and education.

On a Personal Note

When I am not at work, I can be found playing the piano, dabbling with the guitar, learning the drums, and listening to jazz. I also love the outdoors and enjoy bike riding, running, hiking, and traveling. I have a maltese poodle named “Kolohe” meaning “mischievous” in Hawaiian and he keeps me busy, too.

Thank you for visiting my home page. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and I look forward to seeing you.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
