About Me

I am an anesthesiologist with a specialty in chronic pain. I am a 3rd generation native Californian. My grandfather was born in Napa and my family has lived in the Bay Area all of my life. Before going to medical school I worked as a software engineer and have a special love for 'solving problems'. After several years in the high-tech world, I decided it would be more interesting to solve medical problems than software problems and I chose to pursue medicine. I attended Stanford University Medical School and then went on to a residency in Anesthesiology at Duke University. While at Stanford I became fascinated with chronic pain and new and exciting ways to treat pain. I continued my interest in this field while I was at Duke. I really love what I do now and I have a strong interest in clinical research to help doctors and patients better understand chronic pain and find new ways to treat this condition. More About Me

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
