My Biography
I completed my BS in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, and my medical degree at Albany Medical College. After my residency training in Internal Medicine at California Pacific Medical Center, I began my practice as a physician in 2001. I also did a year of residency in Radiology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center but found that I missed the long-term patient care of clinical medicine. I am board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. For a list of my other credentials see below.
I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2004 after working in a private practice here in San Francisco for three years. Having been in the private sector and now in this large, multispecialty group, I can say without reservation that Kaiser Permanente provides the best care for patients. The privilege of being someone's doctor is one of the greatest things in life. A trusting, long-term relationship between doctor and patient makes for excellent health care. I enjoy working with a diverse patient population. I take a special interest in the care of patients with HIV as well as the health issues that are unique to the LGBT community. In my free time I enjoy yoga, meditation, learning to play flute, indie films, wine, reading, and being a slave to my cat.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
