Fridays I provide cosmetic services at 2440 Samaritan Drive

I joined The Permanente Medical Group in 1980 and have practiced in the Department of Dermatology at Santa Teresa for my entire career. I was named Chief of the Department that same year and remained in that role until Sept of 2003 when I assumed the new role as Chief of the Mohs Surgery Unit. I am also co-director of the Center for Aesthetic Services.

I received my BS with high honors from the University of Illinois as well as my medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1976. I completed my residency in Dermatology at the University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor in 1980. During those years I received my training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery.

I am Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology. I am a Fellow with the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. I was a clinical instructor in Dermatology at Stanford University for five years(1998-2003). I was the co-founder of the Cosmetic Services Program, which began in late 1997 at the San Jose (Santa Teresa) and San Francisco Kaiser facilities. These programs became the models used for further services offered throughout Northern California, as well as, Oregon, Georgia, Colorado and Southern California Kaiser facilities.

Most of my practice is limited to Mohs Micrographic Surgery of the skin. I was the first physician to offer the fresh tissue technique in Northern California Kaiser Permanente in 1980 and have done close to 10,000 cases over the years. My areas of interest in cosmetic services include: laser resurfacing, laser removal of tattoos, age spots, blood vessels, Botox, Collagen, chemical peels, as well as, cosmetic removal of cosmetically undesirable skin growths. I have been named among ‘America’s Top-rated Physicians’ by Consumer’s Checkbook as well as one of the ‘500 most trusted Bay Area Physicians’ in both San Francisco Magazine and San Jose Magazine.
