As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I provide group & individual psychotherapy here in the Chemical Dependency Services department as well as psychoeducational classes about addictions, co-dependency and long term recovery issues. I hope we will have a good working relationship together as you begin your journey into recovery.
I received my graduate training at San Jose Sate University and have been practicing in the field of chemical dependency for approximately twenty years. I am bilingual and enjoy working in both English and Spanish.
My treatment philosophy is we are here to facilitate a better understanding of your relationship to alcohol & drugs or to those you care about, who are using alcohol and drugs. In the process of understanding, we will take some time to explore your thoughts and feelings about your journey in recovery. The beginning of this process will be mixed with confusion and insights…you will have some good and some bad days. But ultimately, if you decide to stick with it, you will find your efforts are well worth it.
I believe the therapeutic process is best helped when you are given sufficient family and community support, which is often experienced outside of Kaiser, in your twelve-step meeting & church or community activities. Does this mean we are not helping? No. It means we are one part of a larger network that you can rely on always. We will be with you from your first eight weeks of groups or classes and then, if you choose, to the long-term groups that will be a supportive environment to understand your issues better.
I, along with my colleagues here at the Milpitas Department of Psychiatry, are happy to be available to answer your questions and concerns and aid as facilitators of your personal growth and development.
