About Your Office Visit

WELCOME TO MY SITE! One of my primary goals as a pediatrician is to help my patients and their families become increasingly educated about their health and well-being. This site is designed to make it as simple as possible for you to obtain healthcare information.

You will find many useful links on my site including links to other clinicians, the Laboratory, Pharmacy, and Radiology Department. You may also visit the Health Encyclopedia or the Child Health Information and Teen Health Information links to learn more about health problems and how to manage them! Find out how you can prepare for your child's routine well visits. In addition, you may even book certain routine appointments or request a prescription refill. Feel free to contact me or my department if you have further questions.

Visit our Health Education Department to learn about classes that you and your children may attend!

MY BIOGRAPHY
I consider myself a long time member of the Kaiser family, as my father was one of the founding members of the Department of Pediatrics at the Santa Clara facility. I have also been a Kaiser Health Plan member for the better part 40 years, and my children are following in these footsteps.

I grew up in the Bay area, and attended Woodside High School. I graduated from UC Berkeley and received my medical degree from Albert Einstein University in New York City. I completed my pediatric residency at Albert Einstein as well. I joined The Permanente Medical Group in 1994.

I am a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. I have a medical practice that is well balanced, with children from the ages of infancy to adolescence. I have a particular interest in helping one’s daughters in their transition to adulthood, as my husband and I have 5 daughters of our own in our blended family. I also enjoy working with new parents, educating and supporting them while they navigate the challenges that even healthy young children can bring.

I am a Hospital based pediatrician, and do not see patients in the outpatient department. I also serve as the Regional Chair of the Chiefs of Physician Wellness. The goal of this committee is to promote the personal health and professional satisfaction of the medical staff, in other words, to help them THRIVE. I am privileged to have worked in a number of different health care systems during my career, and am now proud to be a member of the Kaiser Permanente team. I believe that our well-integrated system, staffed with exceptional physicians and allied health professionals, with its emphasis on high quality and exceptional service, has provided me the best possible opportunity to practice the style of medicine that I can be proud of.

When not caring for patients, I enjoy gardening and spending time with my family. With five daughters, we are constantly in sports season, and there are few things I find more enjoyable than watching their teams play.

If you do not have a Personal Care Physician, please have one of the staff assist you in selecting one. You may also call the Member Outreach department at (650) 299-4291 to help you. If the space is currently available, I would be glad to add you to my panel, or, I can highly recommend any one of the excellent physicians or nurse practitioners in the Pediatric Department.

Located on my Home Page are a number of links to sites that I have found particularly valuable. As web addresses can change frequently, please search for the site directly if the link listed here is not correct. There is a tremendous amount of information on the Internet, and the web can be a very valuable tool for parents and physicians alike. Please consider the source when you are interpreting the information, as the Internet does not require that the “facts” within a site be validated before they are posted. I have done my best to present information that is timely, relevant, and as evidence-based as possible.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
