Welcome to my Homepage. This will provide you with a glimpse of my background and my practice philosophy. I will to do my best to make your visit as informative as possible. I believe that together, we will make the best decisions. Please take some time to explore this website and it’s many useful links.

I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2002 as an Ophthalmologist with sub-speciality training in Oculoplastics, Orbital Surgery and Neuro-ophthalmology. I came here to beautiful California, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I had trained as a Head and Neck surgeon in the United Kingdom prior to Ophthalmology training in the United States. I grew up in Bangalore, India, the technology hub of India. I studied Medicine at Bangalore Medical College and received my medical degree from Bangalore University in 1986. Soon after, I moved to the United Kingdom and trained as an Otolaryngologist, Head and Neck Surgeon. In 1989, I received a Diploma in Otolaryngology (DLO RCS) from the Royal College of Surgeons, London and obtained a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh (FRCS Ed) in 1991. In 1994 my family relocated to the United States. I started an Ophthalmology residency at State University of New York, Buffalo, NY completing it in 2000 and a Fellowship in Oculoplastics, Orbital Surgery and Neuro-ophthalmology at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA in 2001. I am a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Santa Clara County Medical Society. As a sub-specialist at Santa Clara, I deal with a wide variety of cases. Oculoplastics deals with abnormalities of eyelids and the periocular area, (Drooping, Baggy eyes), growth around eyes (benign and malignant), orbital trauma , orbital tumors and disorders of tearing. Neuro-ophthalmology deals with disorders of the optic nerve and its connections with the brain, including eye motility disorders (crossed eyes). My two boys keep me busy outside of work. My other interests include cycling, photography, travel and music. I am fluent in Kannada and have a working knowledge of Hindi. My next goal is to learn Spanish, being tutored by my son at home and my wonderful staff in our department.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
