My Biography:
Rose Abendroth is a Physician Assistant in the Department of Plastic Surgery; she joined Kaiser Permanente in 1999 in Emergency Medicine and joined Plastic Surgery in 2008.
Rose was born and raised in San Francisco, CA, a third generation native San Franciscan. She completed study in Dietetics at San Francisco State University and a Dietetic Internship at the University of California, Berkeley. As a Registered Dietitian, she worked in clinical nutrition at Seton Medical Center in Daly City. She specialized in cardiovascular diseases, cardiac rehabilitation and long term care.
She received a master’s degree in Health Education, focusing on diet and nutrition with a thesis in Cardiac Diet Instruction.
Wanting to broaden her experience in patient care, Rose applied to the Physician Assistant Program in primary care at Stanford University. She worked in internal medicine, clinics for the underserved in San Francisco, and the Public Health Dept. of San Francisco. She is board certified in medicine and surgery by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. A life-long student, Rose completed her PhD in Public Health in 2003.
After completing the Physician Assistant Program, Rose joined the Army National Guard as a Physician Assistant. She continues to serve with the 297thSupport Battalion in San Mateo, California, a medical unit with a focus on cold weather training. She has had extensive training in Alaska on cold weather injuries and survival in extreme conditions.
Rose has a busy practice seeing patients with various plastic surgery needs, including hand surgery, craniofacial surgery, breast reconstruction and skin diseases. She has a special interest in emergency medicine as well as plastic and reconstructive surgery. Rose is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the California Academy of Physician Assistants and is a Liaison to the Mid Peninsula Physician Assistant Group. She has retained her dietetic credentials, recognizing the importance of good nutrition in surgical healing and the special dietary needs in maxillofacial surgery.
Rose is married to John, a golf professional. They have two children. Her interests include hiking, camping, winter sports, and travel.
