Welcome to my Home Page!

Welcome to the fascinating world of Dermatology!

I am pleased to offer this website as a means to provide up-to-date dermatologic information and helpful web links.

I have been fortunate to be a practicing dermatologist for twenty years. I currently am Assistant Chief of Dermatology at the San Rafael Permanente Medical Group. One of my many roles in this position is to act as Quality Liason for our department with the monthly San Rafael Hospital Quality of Care Committee. I have a longstanding commitment to community skin cancer screening and education through my involvemnt as co-chair of the annual Marin Community Skin Cancer Screening Program for the last 10 years. I've also been a guest lecturer in the Women's Wellness Series.

Besides General Dermatology, my expertise includes both Mohs Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology. Dr. Patrick Hybarger and I founded the San Rafael Mohs Surgery Department in 1987, and I have been taking care of complicated skin cancer patients ever since. I usually reserve Tuesdays for my Mohs Surgery cases. Likewise, my interest in facial structure and anatomy led to my establishment of the Cosmetic Dermatology Program at San Rafael. I have served as the Champion for Cosmetic Services for the last 4 years, and the Cosmetic Dermatology program has grown by leaps and bounds! I generally devote Fridays for the practice of Cosmetic Dermatology, but I often add special clinics in the evenings. Please see the link on the left to our Cosmetic Services Web Page for additional information and feel free to call (415)482-6803 or (707) 765-3532 to request Cosmetic Services.

I welcome you to explore all our dermatologic services offered at San Rafael and your comments and suggestions are always welcome. I look forward to your next appointment.

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
