I received my Ph.D. from Pacific Graduate School of Psychology in Palo Alto, CA, in 1999. I'm also a Registered Nurse, having graduated from San Jose State University with a BS in Nursing, but have not worked in nursing for some time. Through my nursing experience I realized how important psychological issues are to a person's overall health and decided to focus my energies in the field of psychology. I have worked at Kaiser for approximately 11 years, in a variety of capacities, both at Santa Clara and at Milpitas, while working on my doctorate. My most recent work at Kaiser has been in various Chemical Dependency Programs.

I enjoy working in this program at Milpitas as I work collaboratively with dedicated team members to provide the best treatment we can to people desiring recovery and adult family members who have been impacted by addiction. I, along with other staff members, provide limited individual treatment as well as group treatment and psychoeducational classes. My therapeutic approach is psychoanalytically informed psychotherapy, however I modify my treatment depending on the needs of the patient. I view the therapeutic relationship as supportive in helping patients understand the role alcohol and/or drugs have played in disrupting their lives and in making changes to create a more satisfying life. We also provide long-term group therapy that is useful in helping patients maintain their abstinence and work through interpersonal conflicts, trauma, and childhood issues. Groups are important in the healing process because they provide support and feedback, and help the patient to understand that they are not alone. I look forward to working with you.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
