I have worked for the Permanente Medical Group for over 20 years. During the last 16 years, I have served as the Chief of the Head and Neck Surgery Department at the Hayward Kaiser Foundation Medical Center. At UC Davis, I received extensive training in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery from professor Leslie Bernstein M.D., an internationally renowned teacher of facial plastic surgery.

I have performed over 3,000 cosmetic surgeries of the face and neck; including cosmetic nasal surgery (rhinoplasty), facelift surgery (rhytidectomy), cosmetic eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), lip augmentation, chin augmentation, cosmetic ear surgery (otoplasty) and browlift. I serve as a regional resource in reconstruction of the face, with specific expertise in rhinoplasty. Additionally, I have been trained for the somnoplasty procedure, the latest breakthrough for snoring disorders. I also performed over 1000 laser procedures of the face and neck.

I enjoy golf, fine dinning, and travel. I am an avid fan of the University of Southern California athletic program, especially its football team.

I graduated with honors from the University of Southern California School of Medicine in 1979. During medical school, I was selected to Alpha Omega Alpha (the national honor society for medical students). Subsequently, I completed my residency in otolaryngology/head and neck surgery at the University of California, Davis, where I served as a clinical instructor in head and neck surgery in 1984. I now serve as clinical attending faculty for the Oakland Kaiser head and neck surgery residency program.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
