My Specialty and Why I Chose It

Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty dedicated to reconstruction of facial and body defects due to birth disorders, trauma, burns, and disease. The art and science of plastic surgery is also involved with the enhancement of the appearance of a person through such operations as facelift, rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, and liposuction. The opportunity to participate in the care of patients of all ages and across a broad range of clinical problems drew me to the specialty.

My Practice Philosophy

I believe that the decision to undergo plastic surgery should be a personal one that is handled through a close partnership between patient and physician. I take pride in providing a personal touch, and I am committed to excellence in patient safety, comfort and satisfaction. I provide the latest techniques in plastic and reconstructive surgery while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and uncompromised professional ethics. I strive to help my patients make well-informed decisions by listening carefully to their concerns and wishes and then taking time to discuss different treatment options along with their strengths and limitations. I want my patients to be comfortable with any decision they make to undergo surgery, and I will do everything possible to ensure that they are happy with their result. No one can provide risk free plastic surgery and no one can guarantee a perfect result, but I am committed to provide the highest quality plastic surgery with safety and satisfaction as my goal.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I joined the Kaiser Permanente team in May 2007 from a successful private practice in Florida. I was drawn to the organization’s commitment to excellence and resources to deliver world class healthcare. Practicing within The Kaiser Permanente Medical Group is wonderful! The depth and expertise of the staff along with the facilities and available technology help to ensure safe, state of the art care for patients within a healthcare model that focuses on efficient delivery of care. This enables me to concentrate on patient care which is what all doctors do best.

On a Personal Note

I grew up in a small town in Northeast Georgia. My father owned a small business, and many of our relatives were farmers. As such I grew up understanding hard work. As a high school student I began working for a local veterinarian which sparked my interest in medicine. Later, after completing my undergraduate degree, I worked in medical research at the prestigious Duke University for a few years before beginning medical school at The Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. After completing medical school I returned to Duke University Medical Center for completion of my general surgery and plastic surgery training. Along the way I met, fell in love with, and married my ballroom dancing instructor! After completion of my training I entered private practice in Florida briefly before joining the Kaiser team. I have also served in the United States Air Force Guard as a flight surgeon assigned to both F-15 and F-16 fighter squadrons. As a flight surgeon I cared for the Air Force’s elite fighter pilots and flew regularly with them.
