I joined The Permanente Medical Group in 2002 as a full-time Mohs surgeon. I do Mohs surgery Tuesday through Friday, and work at our Cosmetic Center on Mondays.

My background...

I received my undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University, and my medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. I did my residency training in Dermatology at the University of South Florida School of Medicine. Between medical school and residency I spent 3 years on Active Duty in the U.S. Air Force paying back the time I owed them for paying for my medical school.

After practicing general dermatology for 5 years - 2 in Southern California and 3 at the University of Utah - I decided that surgery was my favorite part of dermatology, so I took a year off and did a Mohs surgery fellowship in New York at a private program affiliated with Columbia University.

I am Board Certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology and am a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, as well as an Associate of the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology.

I thoroughly enjoy working at Kaiser Permanente in our state-of-the-art Mohs lab and surgical suite. We are a regional referral center so we see lots of patients and get lots of practice. We have a great Mohs team that is commited to giving you excellent care and making your visit with us as pleasant as possible.

Clinical interests....

I have special interest in all types of skin cancer, specifically prevention, treatment, and surgical reconstruction after Mohs surgery.

Personal interests....

When I'm not at work I enjoy gardening, reading, piano, biking, running, and spending time with my family.

Philosophy of care...

I believe in giving the best care possible, in a caring and friendly manner. I believe in discussing the available treatment options, giving my recommendations, and then letting the patient decide what he or she wants. I believe in making the patient comfortable and pain-free as possible, and making our experience together a pleasant one.
