Welcome to my practice…

I consider myself incredibly blessed. Not only am I in Dermatology, a specialty that I love, but I also practice Mohs Surgery, a subspecialty that blends both intellectual excellence and creative dexterity. Both fields encompass what I enjoy most within medicine. While dermatology offers the stimulation of gross pathology and clinical and visual diagnosis, Mohs surgery encompasses the intellectual challenge of oncology and microscopic pathology and the art of reconstructive surgery.

Mohs surgery is the gold standard technique for removing skin cancer and has been reported to have the best cure rate. The Mohs technique is so powerful because it allows me to examine the entire surgical surface margins under the microscope while my patients wait in the office. If skin cancer cells are seen, more tissue is removed and again the outer edges are microscopically examined. This process is repeated until skin cancer cells are no longer seen at the margins.

Once the entire skin cancer has been removed, reconstruction of the surgical defect can take place. This is the part of my practice that enables me to be an artisan, practicing art and science, reforming and mending the craniofacial form. The surgical defect may be repaired by borrowing tissue from adjacent skin (flap) or from distant skin (graft). In some circumstances, the surgical defect may be allowed to heal in by itself.

I enjoy being meticulous with my work and pay careful attention to where incision lines are places and sewed so that my patients can have the best cosmetic outcome. My goal is to make the scarlines from Mohs surgery and reconstruction as invisible as possible. In addition to practicing Mohs surgery and dermatology, I also provide cosmetic services at 2440 Samaritan Drive.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
