About Me

I chose optometry as a profession because it combined my interest in health care with my desire to work with people. I have been at Kaiser Permanente in Pleasanton since 1989. The staff I work with has been just wonderful-one of the reasons I enjoy it here so much. We support each other at work and in our personal lives.

I try to practice medicine in such a way that my patients feel as though they are getting individualized service, unique to their needs. I love being able to see entire families! Another reason I love being at Kaiser Permanente is the fact that I have four (yes, four!) young children. Kaiser Permanente gives me the opportunity to have a family life in addition to by professional life.

At the moment, my spare time is devoted to the kids-we hike, bike, and camp. Photography is a hobby of mine, and I hope to be able to travel again as the kids get older. I have participated in several eye projects overseas in developing countries and would like to do more in the future.

My educational background:

Undergraduate Education: California State University, Hayward
Optometric Education: University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry
Post Graduate Training: MA from University of California, Berkeley

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
