My Biography

I was born in Kashmir, India, and was raised in India and Mauritius. I received my undergraduate degree in Kashmir, and my Medical Degree from Karnataka University, India. I completed my post graduate medical work in Ophthalmology at Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris, France.

I was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, in the Department of Dermatology, where I did research on HIV disease and also took care of HIV patients in the clinic. I completed my internal medicine residency-training program at Highland Hospital in Oakland.
I have published several articles on HIV related skin diseases.

I joined the Permanente Medical Group in 1997, working at the Kaiser Martinez Facility and the Kaiser Hospital in Walnut Creek. In October 1998, I joined the medical staff at the Kaiser Mountain View Facility and have been the Chief of Service since 2006.

My practice is focused on Primary Care and Internal Medicine; however, I also like to take care of patients with basic Ophthalmology and Dermatology problems.

I'm married and have two children. My husband is a Physicist, who does research on optics and solid state physics. In my leisure time, I enjoy hiking, playing table tennis and traveling with my family. I'm fluent in several languages including French, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and Kashmiri.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
